Day
1. EUROPE-LOS ANGELES
Welcome to Los Angeles. Pick up your rental car and spend your first evening in
the city. Night in the heart of Los Angeles. Before going to sleep, drive through
the Hollywood hills until you reach the end of Rockcliff Drive, where you will
have the best view point of the famous Hollywood sign written in giant, 16-meter
letters. Day
2. LOS ANGELES-HOLLYWOOD One day to discover LA, 14.5 million inhabitants,
2000 kms of freeways, 84 neighborhoods, the most famous of which are Hollywood,
Beverly Hills, Venice and Malibu
or visit Universal Studios, the biggest
cinema center and the third most visited attraction in southern California (this
takes the entire day) or else visit Disneyland. Day
3. MONTEREY-CARMEL
Travel along the beautiful coastal highway Route 1 until you reach Monterey, formerly
a fishing port, now a seaside community that combines a unique variety of shops
and a spectacular assortment of parks and natural areas. Then take the "17
Mile Drive", panoramic route from which you can admire the beautiful villas
of millionaires and especially the rich fauna and flora : cypress forests, pelicans,
seals, sea lions, ...finally you reach the charming town of Carmel with its Spanish
mission. Day
4. YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK
Yosemite Park embraces a spectacular tract of mountain and valley scenery and
harbors a grand collection of waterfalls, meadows, and giant sequoia forests.
Highlights include the "Yosemite falls", one of the park's waterfalls,
the river "Yosemite Creek", and El Capitan, one of the highest cliffs
in the world (900 meters). "Glacier Point" provides an excellent view
of Yosemite valley. At the south end of the park, in the Mariposa Grove, is where
you find the giant sequoias. Day
5. SAN FRANCISCO
4 hours of driving will take you to the most beautiful city in California. San
Francisco extends over 11 km squared and has 43 hills on which pretty Victorian
houses are built. The Twin Peaks, at 275 meters, giving you a splendid 360°
panorama of the city. Visit the Coit Tower, Lombard St, Chinatown, Alamo Square,
Fisherman's Wharf, and take a ride in the cable car. Day
6. SAN FRANCISCO
Today, you can explore the multiple facets of the City by the Bay. We recommend
that you visit the neighborhoods of Haight Ashbury and Castro, and that you take
a long walk through Golden Gate Park, a magnificent public park, 5 km long and
800 meters wide. Stroll through the Yerba Buena Gardens, and visit the MOMA if
you enjoy modern art. Don't forget to walk on the famous orange bridge: at the
very end of the bridge, the Golden Gate Recreation Area offers a superb view of
the bay and the city. In the evening, have a cocktail at the Equinoxe (rotating
top floor of the Hyatt Embarcardero, the view is magnificent). Day
7. SAN FRANCISCO-EUROPE
If you have time before your flight, have brunch at Cliff House and do a little
shopping on Union Street (Russian Hill) or in the department stores at Union Square
before returning your car at the airport and flying back to Europe.
